Product Review- Mother Sparsh Baby Wipes

Hello friends,

I am back with a product review.

Out of the many things that we new moms use, baby wipes become our best friend over the first few weeks and then this friendship lasts longer than we expect it to.

The wipes are consistently used through first few months and also later, used over the most delicate parts of our babies who already have sensitive skin; this makes choosing the right wipes even more important.

Review: Mamaearth Nourishing Hair Oil for Babies

Hair oiling/ head massage has always been difficult with this little ball of energy. He sits still for regular massage, but not for champi. We recently started using nourishing hair oil by Mamaearth and guess what? It is the lovely packaging that keeps him engaged.. mama sings “baba white sheep” spins a few stories around it and baby learns a few new things everytime while getting his champi (head massage) done with this awesome smelling hairoil. Jojoba oil in this hair oil helps in keeping the scalp healthy and avocado oil stimulates the hair growth. The oil with its unique concoction also treats cradle cap.

More about the oil-
Like all other Mamaearth products, this hair oil too is a MadeSafe certified product. MadeSafe certification is given to household products that are safe to use and do not pose any potential threat to health and environment.  The oil contains no mineral oils or artificial fragrances, key ingredients of the oil being – jojoba oil, coconut oil, Avocado oil, lavender oil and vitamin E.

My experience-  I loved the oil, very light on hair though you can’t say that it is nonstick, but it is pretty light for a hairoil. Leaves the hair soft and shining after wash. It has lovely mild lavender fragrance.

Pricing and packaging- It comes in a sleek bottle with spray nozzle and has double lids (one for the nozzle and one for the bottle)

100 ml bottle is priced at INR 299/-

Availability- mamaearth nourishing oil for babies is available at mamaearth website and other leading online shopping portals like Amazon, nyaka and firstcry.

Review- Pantene Oil Replacement

Gone are the hostel days when I used to sit with my friends for long head massage/ oiling sessions along with lots of gossip.

I now end up running behind a toddler with my hair crazily tied up in a messy bun. Also now i don’t  really like oiling my hair, may be because i don’t have time for it and also because washing hair after oiling needs extra efforts.

So, I rarely use oil, thankfully I am blessed with good hair, but still one needs to take some bit of care. With approaching winter and hair getting dry I was wondering which oil to buy, and just then I came across this Oil replacement cream. What a wonderful product for people who can’t stand oil or who have no time or luxury to get their hair oiled.

The New Pantene Oil Replacement has Pro-V and goodness of oils; giving you two times stronger hair.

Why I liked this product- when I first used it, I felt my hair a little sticky, but I realised I had used a larger quantity. The stickiness though went away in sometime. The second time I used lesser quantity of it and my hair was perfect.
The cream is absolutely non sticky if used rightly. Takes away all the dryness( that is what it is for) leaving your hair smooth and silky, it does not weigh down your hair unlike oils. I also love its fragrance.

Packaging-
Comes in a Sleek Golden color flip-flop tube which is easy to carry.
Available in 2 sizes
1 . 80 ml- 85 Rs.
2. 180 ml  – 150 Rs.

The best part about it is it’s ease of use-
Take a little blob of cream, rub it on your palms, glide it through your hair.. that’s It!! You are ready to style your hair and good to go! Another good thing is it’s pricing.

When can one use it??  I use it after washing my hair and also sometimes midweek when I feel my hair is getting way too dry. You could use it before sleeping/ before an occasion/ before going out somewhere.
Basically Pantene has brought a solution to end the hassles of oiling with this New Oil replacement therapy!

Do try this awesome product it is available offline and online too on Amazon and nyaka.

Flowers and the bee – A toy for toddlers to enhance multiple skills

Children are intrinsically curious and creative, growing up in this made up world adulterates these traits.
I still remember my childhood days, how we loved  playing outdoors and made into toys things that would otherwise be trashed. Not that there was any dearth of toys, but making those things gave us a sense of accomplishment and also taught many other lessons.
So, if you ask me, the best way to keep their imagination alive will be to keep them close to nature and to offer them opportunities for lots of open ended play.
Skola is one of my favourite toy brands; they have  wonderful range of educational toys made from the high quality material which is mostly wood.
I am going to share my views and our experience of this particular Skola toy –
“Flower and the bee”
Packaging-
The toy came in an attractive doodled carton along with detailed description about the toy and how it can be used.
Contents- The toy has 5 pairs of wooden flowers and 4 leaves. The flowers come in different colors.
A string with a bee-shaped needle at the end. The package also had a complimentary set of 4 crayons to be used for coloring the box.
Quality- There is no doubt that the toy is made up of the best quality material. The colors are bright and beautiful. The toy is sturdy and the finishing is just perfect.
Engagement-
The toy primarily requires threading of all the flowers and leaves.
Threading is a complex fine motor skill where coordination is required between both hands and eyes simultaneously. The child must be shown a few times how to perform this activity.
The beauty of such toys is that there are multiple things you can do with them.
You could teach pairing colors or shapes with this toy.
A memory game can be deviced with this toy.
Different pattern formation can be done, we made a few rangoli designs with these flowers.
Skills developed-
Fine motor skills-
The activity helps in improving multiple muscle movements and dexterity.
Cognitive skills- pairing helps in building short term memory and developing cognitive abilities.
Visual discrimination- Pairing activity helps the children observe patterns and to classify them based on their physical properties.
Creativity- Varied patterns can be drawn with just a few wooden flowers challenging and enhancing the creative abilities.
Writing skills- Threading is a pre-writing activity, setting the base for writing.
As the child moves the flower, the hand movements and tri-finger grip aid in writing skills.
Since threading requires finer skills, the toy did not interest my son much (he is 19 months old right now), but he does enjoy playing with the flowers and the string individually, another advantage of open ended toys.
Some pointers for parents when they head out to buy toys, these are the questions I try to answer before buying toys for my son-
1. What I want him to achieve from these toys?
2. Will this enhance his motor skills?
3. How will it improve his cognitive abilities?
4. Is there scope of manipulation or open ended play?
5. What material is It?
6. Could it pose any hazard to my child?
7. How many more months will it possibly be useful for?
8. How long can my child be engaged with this toy at a stretch?
9. What is the complexity level?
10. And of course the price. Is it a value for money purchase?
Skola toys are manufactured by a company that has pioneered preschool solutions in India and is a leader in making montessori materials. Each Skola toy is researched and crafted to provide the best learning outcomes for children. Check out their website for wonderful educational toys to choose from.
Happy learning and happy playing!!!
